  Pink leather seats and plastic lavender decorating the table. It's probably ideal for the ladies who lunch. For a grumpy old sod like me it was too pretentious. If you would have been more impressed had I said "grumpy old sod like moi" it could well be your thing.
  The chicken liver was chicken liver and the steak and chips was steak and chips. Acceptable but not outstanding.

  Poor quality food, passive aggressive service.
  
  My mushrooms on toast clearly sat under the heat lamp far too long, as the plate was roasting hot and the toast entirely mush from soaking for an age in sauce; a vegetarian tagine had a jam like sweetness and no subtlety of flavour or texture, I could barely eat half.
  
  Service was passive aggressive: a waiter scowling and making snippy comments when we didn't instantly claim our dish from him; a waitress rolling her eyes because she had to stretch an extra inch to collect the empty plate off one of our party.
  
  I explained the problem with the food when we were asked if we had enjoyed our meal, apparently this had been a rhetorical question as the waitress glared back with a look of "what am I supposed to do about that?" And indeed she then did nothing about that.
  
  What a cheerless dump. One supposes it is there to cash in on the transient tourist population. I am local and won't be back.

  Service and staff here are excellent and can't be faulted, they thoroughly deserved the tip we left. The food was pretty good too, the only thing preventing a higher rating was that so many items on the menu were sold out. We were warned about most of them but the starter I ordered also turned out to be unavailable, requiring a second selection. Unfortunate, but I won't let it be too big a factor in my review.
